about

_Fudisterik
@fudisterik

Ricardo Cabral, aka Fudisterik, was born 38 years ago in, Minas Gerais.

His interest in producing music started by accident when a friend installed FL Studio on his computer to make "noises" on a Sunday afternoon. In 2011 he began exchanging messages with music producer Paulo Dandrea who convinced him to move to Ableton Live and taught him basic rules of production.

According to Cabral, the starting point in his tracks is never a rhythmic idea, but sounds that will fill your ears and your soul. "These are the sounds that drive me to one direction or another and naturally things start to happen."

_Paulo Dandrea
@paulo_dandrea

"I was born in São Paulo 29 years ago. In the past, I played bass for 'bizarre-metal' band Trio Tarja Preta and the ‘elevator music’ project 'Surround Sound." In 2010 I discovered the computer and started producing electronically. For 'Soundclouders' I was welcomed. I have never released anything officially, only through Bandcamp.

_MJP
@mjpsp

Graphic artist member of Metagrafismo and Metanol FM collective affiliate music producer, São Paulo’s beatmaker MJP has an extensive online discography. Also a member of Ordo and Aztrak projects with Emerson Pingarilho, his (latest) title is called B-Sides [2003-2008] (Beatwise Recordings, 2013).

"I think that 'EMX1 Error', my contribution to Hy Brazil, is very mechanical, industrial. It has an absence of life and emotion. It was a fun track to make, I did everything using an Electribe EMX1. And the name is an allusion to when the machine errors and generate some glitches, some glitches… lol. "

_Droid-ON
@droidon

Born in Brasilia but currently living in São Paulo, Eduardo Melo has been, since 2008, Droid-ON, a chipmusic project based on low technology and inspired by "background music", old computers, video game trackers and obsolete software.

Co-founder of Chippanze.org, Brazilian first chipmusic label, his live performances are usually enhanced with projections made by visual artist Escaphandro, exhibiting symbolic images of pixel art mixed with glitches.

_Taksi
@wearetaksi

Taksi is producer João Brasil, known for his mashups and productions related to baile funk, and drummer and composer Domenico Lancellotti, one of the pillars of the new Brazilian popular music. Armed with laptops, iPads, percussive samplers, synthesizers and many effects, Taksi works with beats and heavy bass, adding improvisation, dub, electronic and jazz to funk carioca.

Born in 2012 during Rio Occupation London, a kind of artistic residence during the Olympic Games, Taksi is more aggressive than the recent creations of Domenico – member of the +2 project (with Moreno Veloso and Kassin) and Orchestra Imperial, also drummer of Gal Costa and Adriana Calcanhoto - and less danceable than the productions of João Brasil, an artist who has done albums for Som Livre (8 Hits, 2008) and Man Recordings (LOVE Banana, 2011). They have, so far, released only an eponymous EP recorded live at Audio Rebel, a mix of recording studio and music venue.

The set unfolds in real time and despite constant mutation depending on the spirit of the evening, travels between music concrete and contemporary electronic production, passing through the roots of African and Pernambuco percussion.

Choice producer of Arto Lindsay, half of the duo of eighties synth-pop Cassady and founder of Uivo, a company specializing in movie soundtracks, grassmass attended the last edition of the Red Bull Music Academy in New York and his debut album will be released in the second half of 2013.

_Catacumba
@catacumba

Catacumba is the solo project of Luciano Oliveira (of The Twelves fame). Inspired by movie soundtracks of the 60’s and 70’s composers such as Ennio Morricone, Giorgio Moroder and Goblin, his songs as an outlet for ideas that go beyond the dance floor and are marked by an obsession with production techniques and old studios.

The project name comes from the hill that faces the window of his studio in Lagoa, Rio de Janeiro, a park that was once a favela and a quilombo (settlement founded by people of African origin) and whose past works as inspiration for tracks that mix calmness and uneasiness.

_akaaka
@akaaka

Created by Lucas Fernandes, akaaka is an electronic project that mutates with every new track. In 2009, for example, his first releases (by Blue Velvet Recordings netlabel) followed a totally harsh noise footprint à la Merzbow. In 2011, he made a remix for Italian band Dumbo Gets Mad that came out on independent Bad Panda Recodings and in 2012 he remixed the track "Exostatic of Nonima" for Mitoma INDUSTRIES, receiving critical acclaim by independent Igloomag.

Luke sporadically writes for the Generation Bass English blog which is a benchmark in global bass music scene, ranging from baile funk to moombahton.

_Viní
@vini707

Born and raised in the outskirts of São Paulo, Viní has been a producer and a DJ since he was 16 (he's 20 now). His strongest influences are in the umbrella of “global ghettotech”, besides disco and local rap. Despite being totally "detached" of strands, he’s one of the main references in Brazilian trap music. Viní is a member of Lokkomotiwa Crew, one of the owners of Zambi Records, a co-founder of the Brazilian Disco Club collective and a collaborator in A$ Party.
